It's landing!

We are working on the parachute.

One of the teams' objectives is designing and making an appropriate landing system. We are now experimenting with our first parachute. Thanks to one of our sponsors we were supplied with special material, iron-on insulating tapes and we purchased some resistant rope, as well.

The insulating tape is also special, it is thermoplastic, after ironing it fills in all of the little holes produced when sewing.

Besides our physics teacher's calculations, we consulted the material from a webpage.
Our parachute is made up from 12 pieces, our task was to calculate its exact parameters. The model was made according to this picture:
The Model
The upper "cap's" diameter is about 3.5- 4  cm, this is going to be made of another colored material. The ropes will be fixed in pairs, diagonally, this is why finally we will have only 6 ropes.
Our parachute differs from these pictures:
The one we got is made up form 6 pieces- ours will consist of 12 pieces
The fixed ropes will be tied in the opposite direction

Not only for the design, but also for its being conspicuous, we will put some extra stripes. Naturally, the team's name and logo will be there, too.
